What does general pest control include?

A general pest service focuses on spiders and crawling insects. We discuss what you have noticed, assess relevant accessible areas and confirm the pests and treatment locations before work starts. The approach depends on the activity, building layout and product directions.

The agreed service may include internal and external treatment, the building perimeter, cracks and crevices, and accessible roof or subfloor areas where appropriate. These areas are assessed individually; access to a space does not automatically mean it needs treatment.

Flying insects, rodents and termite services are quoted separately. Some infestations also need dedicated treatment or follow-up. We explain those distinctions in your quote so you know what is included.

Spiders and crawling insects we help manage

Illustrative house spider

Spiders

Treatment considers the species, activity and places spiders shelter around the building. Tell us about webs, sightings and affected indoor or outdoor areas so we can assess the appropriate scope.

Black ant on sandy ground

Ants

Ant trails can lead through kitchens, bathrooms and external walls. We assess the activity and likely access routes before selecting treatment and recommending changes to reduce attractants.

Cockroach on a pale surface

Cockroaches

Identification matters. A persistent kitchen infestation may need a different approach from occasional larger cockroaches entering from outside. We explain whether dedicated treatment or follow-up is needed.

Illustrative silverfish

Silverfish

Tell us where you have seen activity, including wardrobes, cupboards or stored materials. We consider accessible harbourage areas and relevant moisture or storage conditions when planning treatment.

Illustrative earwig

Earwigs

Activity around doorways and external areas is assessed alongside surrounding shelter and property conditions. The aim is to target the problem areas and provide useful prevention advice.

Illustrative millipede

Millipedes

If millipedes are entering from outside, describe when and where they appear. We assess entry routes and external conditions, and explain the practical limits of treatment where pest pressure continues around the property.

A treatment plan for your property

Inside the building

We consider the rooms and accessible locations relevant to the pest activity. Discuss food preparation areas, children's belongings, pets and any sensitive spaces before the appointment so preparation instructions can be tailored.

Outside and around the perimeter

The external assessment considers activity around entrances, walls and other agreed locations. Treatment and recommendations reflect the pest problem, weather, access and conditions at the site.

Roof voids and subfloors

These areas are included only where relevant, suitable and safely accessible. We explain access restrictions and any untreated areas rather than promising that every void will be treated.

Prevention alongside treatment

Treatment is only part of the response. Practical advice may cover pest entry points, clutter, food sources, moisture and outside harbourage. Recommendations are specific to what we find.

From your first enquiry to aftercare

1. Tell us what you have noticed

Share your suburb, property type, pest sightings and affected areas. A clear description helps us discuss the likely service and arrange the next step. If you are unsure of the pest, tell us what you can see.

2. Confirm the scope and preparation

We explain the proposed work, quote and relevant preparation. Raise access concerns and requirements for people, pets and sensitive areas before treatment begins.

3. Assess and treat

We assess relevant accessible areas and carry out the agreed treatment using methods appropriate to the pest, site and product directions. Any change in scope is discussed with you.

4. Understand the aftercare

You receive service information, precautions and practical recommendations. Follow the instructions provided for re-entry, cleaning and access to treated areas, and contact us if you have concerns about continuing activity.

Preparation, pricing and service terms

Before your visit, follow the preparation instructions supplied for your treatment. Tell us about pets, aquariums, children, access arrangements and any other concerns so these can be considered in the plan. Avoid assuming that instructions from a previous treatment will apply to the next one.

Quotes reflect the pests, treatment areas, property size, access and level of activity. A typical residential treatment may take around 1–2 hours, but we confirm the expected time for your property. Re-entry directions depend on the treatment and products used; follow the instructions given for your service.

Warranty or follow-up terms are confirmed with your quote. We do not apply the same promise to every pest or property.

Suspected termite activity needs its own assessment. Our termite inspection service explains what an inspection involves and how findings guide the next step. A general pest treatment is not a termite inspection or termite treatment.

Service across the region

SureGuard services Greater Geelong, Golden Plains, the Surf Coast and surrounding communities. These include Geelong, Lara, Bannockburn, Teesdale, Inverleigh, Torquay, Anglesea and nearby localities.

General pest control FAQs

Is every pest included in a general pest treatment?

No. The service focuses on spiders and crawling insects within the agreed scope. Flying insects, rodents and termites are quoted separately, and some insect infestations need a dedicated approach. Tell us about all the activity you have noticed when requesting your quote.

Do you treat both inside and outside?

Internal and external treatment may form part of the service. The locations depend on the pest problem, site conditions, access and product directions. We confirm the areas to be treated before work starts.

Do I need to leave the property?

Access restrictions depend on the treatment. We explain preparation and re-entry requirements for people and pets. Follow the instructions for your appointment rather than relying on a general time estimate.

How long will the treatment last?

Results and residual performance vary with the pest, treatment, weather, cleaning, property conditions and ongoing pest pressure. Ask about the expected outcome, aftercare and any applicable follow-up terms for your service.

Can I book general pest control for a business?

Yes. We can discuss treatment for commercial premises. Businesses with ongoing pest exposure or specific reporting and operational requirements may need a separately scoped commercial program.

What if I see pests after treatment?

Follow the aftercare advice and contact us with details of the pest, location and timing. We assess the activity and explain the next step under the agreed service terms; further treatment is not automatically needed for every sighting.
